City Government of Quezon in the Philippines has started negotiations to revive the concession to develop an integrated solid waste management facility with a consortium comprised of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation, Covanta Energy LLC, and Macquarie Capital Limited.
The plant will have the capacity to process 3,000 metric tons of municipal solid waste (MSW) per day and generating 42 MW of electricity. All hurdles except the issue of contingent liabilities related to concession are solved. The city government will negotiate with the consortium and formalize the concession.
