The Department of Transportation (DOTr) of the Philippines has endorsed the proposal submitted by a super consortium of seven conglomerates called NAIA Consortium for the rehabilitation of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
DOTr has submitted the revised proposal of the consortium to the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA)’s Investment Coordination Committee (ICC). The updated proposal is patterned to the operation and maintenance contract of the Clark international airport.
The NAIA Consortium is composed of Aboitiz InfraCapital, AC Infrastructure Holdings Corp., Alliance Global Group Inc., Asia’s Emerging Dragon Corp., Filinvest Development Corp., JG Summit Holdings Inc., and Metro Pacific Investments Corp. The consortium has been awarded as the original proponent status (OPS) for its unsolicited proposal to rehabilitate, upgrade, expand, operate and maintain the airport for a total investment of PHP102 billion (US$1.94 billion). The works include the expansion and interconnection of the existing terminals of NAIA, upgrading of its airside facilities, development of commercial facilities to increase airline and airport efficiencies, enhancement of passenger comfort and experience, and elevating the status of the airport.
