Department of Transportation (DOTr) in the Philippines has awarded the Laguna to Albay railway line design-build concession to China Railway JV.
The joint venture comprises China Railway Group Ltd., China Railway No. 3 Engineering Group Co. Ltd., and China Railway Engineering Consulting Group Co. Ltd. The 380 km long rail line will connect Banlic, Calamba to Daraga, Albay. The rail line is part of the PNR Bicol project and aims to connect 39 cities and municipalities.
The estimated investment value of the project is PHP142 billion (US$2.76 billion). The scope of works involves the design, construction, and electromechanical works of rail track, 23 stations, 230 bridges, 10 passenger tunnels, and a 70-hectare depot located in San Pablo, Laguna.
