The Egyptian Ministry of Transport has started the trial operation of the Cairo Metro Line 3 extension (phase 3C) with passengers providing transport connections between Kit Kat and Cairo University.

From Al-Tawfiqia Station to Cairo University, the 7.1 km metro expansion is serviced by 5 stops. It passes through the League of Arab States, Boulak Al-Dakrour, and Wadi Al-Nil Street. Al-Tawfiqia, Nile Valley, and Gamaet Al-Dawul are three underground stations; Boulak Al-Dakrour is a surface station; and Cairo University is an elevated station. The Cairo Metro Line 3 extension has been fully operational for the general public since its trial operation with passengers. It originates at the enormous Adly Mansour Central Interchange Station, travels through Kit Kat and then branches out north to the Rawd al-Farag axis and south to Cairo University. Line 3 is 41.2 km long in total and has 34 stops.

3 workshops are also included in this line. For Umrah to maintain the mobile units operating on the line (Al-Salam, which is regarded as one of the largest workshops in the Middle East and Africa and was carried out on an area of 65 ac and is designated for light and major overhauls of trains; Al-Abbasiya, on an area of 10 ac, and Imbaba, on an area of about 24 ac, where light overhauls of trains are carried out).
