The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) of Peru has announced the decision to reject the request of the concessionaire Lima Airport Partners (LAP) to extend the deadline for the Jorge Chávez airport expansion in Lima.
LAP requested the modification of the Airport Development Master Plan as well as to prolong the expansion of the terminal by 2035. The current concession contract indicated that the concessionaire will stop operating the airport and is expected to deliver the operational terminal by the beginning of 2025. The newly extended terminal will serve 35 million passengers.
The MTC's decision to reject the plan and schedule changes is due to the fact that it will affect connectivity, foreign trade, tourism and investment.
