The Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN) has announced a portfolio of 13 sanitation public-private partnership (PPP) projects for a combined value of US$1.2 million in Peru.

The water and sanitation projects aim to close the gaps in access to services and benefit more than 4.8 million inhabitants in 12 regions of Peru. The projects include a range of wastewater treatment and desalination, as well as projects that integrate both drinking water supply and treatment and wastewater treatment.

To date, PROINVERSIÓN has signed a technical cooperation agreement with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IDB Invest) for a program of 6 wastewater treatment plants in Peru. The projects, located in the cities of Chincha, Cajamarca, Cusco, Tarapoto, Trujillo and Cañete, are being developed under the Private Finance Initiative (PFI). Furthermore, PROINVERSIÓN has signed 2 collaboration agreements with the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation for a new drinking water supply service through the desalination of seawater in the provinces of Paita, Talara and Lambayeque, as well as a wastewater treatment service in the province of Talara.
