The Ministry of Housing, Construction, and Sanitation (MVCS) in Peru approved its Multiannual Report on Investments in Public-Private Associations (IMIAPP 2020-2022) in the sanitation sector, in which 18 potential investment projects are identified under the aforementioned modality, which would benefit 10 million Peruvians. These projects, which will be awarded in the next three years, will require an investment of approximately PEN 8193 million (US$ 2,264.1 million).
The portfolio of co-financed PPPs is made up of thirteen projects: the improvement and expansion of the sewerage systems in Puerto Maldonado and Huancayo; the wastewater treatment of Trujillo and Chepén, Cusco, Cajamarca, Cañete and Chincha; the Chiclayo, Lambayeque and Ferreñafe wastewater treatment system. It also includes the Huaraz and Tarapoto and San José de Sisa wastewater treatment plants; the Ilo desalination plant; the improvement and expansion of rural sanitation services in Loreto; and the improvement and expansion of the water supply service for population use in Cajamarca.
There are five self-financed PPPs: the projects called Obras de Cabecera, Desalination Plant of Lima Norte; Desalination plant for Lima Sur; New North WWTP, and New South WWTP.
