The Department of Transportation of the State of Pennsylvania has dropped its plan of implementing the Turnpike tunnel system rehabilitation project under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme.
The project would involve the development, design, construction, finance, and maintenance of the necessary modernization improvements to provide accelerated system upgrades and structural repairs to the five vehicular highway tunnels and tunnel systems (e.g. plumbing, electrical, ventilation, structural, safety, etc.) located along the Pennsylvania Turnpike, a 580km tolled highway running east-west through Pennsylvania, a state in the north-east USA.
In February, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) has received 14 responses for the initially launched request for information (RFI) for the project.
