Swedish builder Peab has been commissioned to build a EUR 44 million (US$ 47 million) prison in the Swedish city of Borås.
The customer is Specialfastigheter, and the contract is valued at SEK 499 million (US$ 47.2 million). The jail, situated near the Borås travel center, will be a seven-story building accommodating 116 prisoners. The jail will be part of the new judicial center, which will also feature a new police station and district court. The project is a turnkey contract, with work on the site already underway and the building's frame currently being erected. The project was officially registered in Q2 of 2024 and is expected to be completed in 2026.
