The Government of Amapá and the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) have signed a partnership contract for the development of a solid waste treatment project in Amapá, Brazil.
The signed contract is aimed at the implementation of the Solid Waste Partnership and Investment Program (PPI) and provides for the improvement of the solid waste treatment system in Amapá. The goal is to reduce the impact caused by waste materials when they are discharged into the environment.
This partnership is structured along the same lines as the sanitation concession in Amapá, which includes improvements of water and sanitation services for urban areas in all 16 municipalities in the state. The sanitation project has also been prepared by BNDES and has already been awarded to selected private partners.
