The Government of Paraguay plans to transform its Chaco region in the northwest of the country into an international transport hub and a key link between ports on the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of South America.
The Ministry of Public Works intends to spend up to US$2 billion of investment to fund basic infrastructures such as roads and bridge. The Corredor Bioceanico will link the ports in Brazil and Chile, while a revitalized highway will span the region from north to south.
In the next 12 months, the government will launch tender at least US$1.2 billion in public-private partnerships and turnkey projects that include two segments of the Corredor Bioceanico. Several foreign investors have already expressed its interest to support the infrastructure initiatives in Paraguay.
