The Governments of Paraguay and South Korea have signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the development of the Cercanía train PPP project in Paraguay.

The project involves the construction of a commuter train, Cercanía, between Asunción and Ypacaraí in the Central Department of Paraguay. The rail transport will have a speed limit of 30 km/h and will be integrated into the public transport system by electronic ticketing. The aim of the project is to improve the public transport infrastructure in the country.

Once the signed document is approved by the Congresses authorities, the MoU agreement will allow starting construction works in 2022.
