The government of Pará published the notice of an international public competition for the regional concession of sanitation services in 126 of the 144 municipalities of Pará, structured with support from the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES).
BRL 18.8 billion (USD 3 billion) will be invested to universalize the water supply service by 2033 in all municipalities under the concession and the sewage collection and treatment service by 2033 in 26 towns in Block A and by 2039 in 100 Pará municipalities in Blocks B, C, and D. The bidding will be judged based on the highest fixed grant value criterion, to select the most advantageous proposal for the concession of water and sewage services and complementary services in the municipalities, divided into four blocks (A, B, C, and D). The 18 towns already served by private concessions are excluded from this competition. The auction is scheduled for April 11, 2025, in São Paulo.
