Panama approves Paso Canoas to Piedra Candela road concession

Ministry of Public Works in Panama has approved the Paso Canoas - Río Sereno - Piedra Candela road concession in the province of Chiriquí.

The road project will have a total length of 73.81 kilometers, starting at Paso Canoas and ending in the Limit of Piedra Candela with Santa Clara. The scope of works also involves the rehabilitation of an existing vehicular bridge and the design and construction of seven bridges, which will be located over the Brazo Seco ravines, Vueltas 1, 2 and 3 ravine, blue ravine, North ravine and over the Sereno River. The new bridges will have two-lane circulation with two New Jersey barriers and pedestrian circulation facilities.

The project will be procured on design, build, finance (DBF) public-private partnership (PPP) model. The authority held a preliminary meeting with contractors to define the scope of the project. The tendering process is expected to start on October 18, 2021.
