The chief of army staff (COAS) general in Pakistan has put emphasis on the need of private sector participation in transforming the defense industry of Pakistan. The enhanced cooperation between the public and private sectors will lead Pakistan's defense industry into a vibrant, self-reliant and self-sustained entity.

He also stated that apart from the public sector and defense production organisations, a fully integrated private sector was much needed in Pakistan's defense industry.

Private sector players have also shown interest in the roadmap for enhancing public-private partnership in defense production. Major recommendations included incorporating the private sector for a raw material base so as to optimally utilise public sector capacity for indigenous defense production.
