The National Highways Authority of Pakistan (NHA) has issued a tender process for the development of two sections of the proposed greenfield 1152km six-lane Karachi to Lahore motorway.
The two sections will be developed on build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis. The NHA is seeking expressions of interest (EOIs) to undertake the following sections under PPP projects:
The motorway forms part of trade corridor linking ports of Karachi and Gwadar with China and Central Asian States. The general alignment runs parallel to the National Highway N-5, which carries 65% traffic of Pakistan.
Interested parties must submit their expression of interest on or before 7 July 2014.
In late April we published that the NHA had awarded the Overlay and Modernization of Lahore - Islamabad M-2 motorway PPP project to Frontier Works Organisation (FWO).
The project will be developed on a build, operate and transfer basis for a period of 20 years, three of them for construction. The agreement was signed on 23 April 2014. The request for proposals had been launched in January 2012.
