Pacific 3 highway achieves construction completion milestone

National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) in Colombia has completed 92% of the implementation works for the Pacific 3 highway concession. The concession is part of Colombia's 4G highway program and it aims to improve the connectivity of the coffee-producing centers to rest of Colombia and Port of Buenaventura.

Pacific 3 highway involves development of 146 kilometers of dual carriageway which is being implemented in four functional units. The authority has already started operational works for the 70 km of the highway sections which comprises 24 kilometers of new two-way roadway between the Asia and Alexandria sectors in Functional Unit 2. Also, 31 km highway in Functional Unit 3 (La Manuela- Tres Puertas-Irra) and 15 km highway in Functional Unit 4 (Irra-La Felisa).  All these works have investments of COP1.45 trillion (USD360.2 million).

The authority also completed works on Tesalia Tunnel, which is part of functional unit 2. The tunnel has 3.5 km long dual carriageway in both directions connecting Caldas, Risaralda and Antioquia. It will reduce the traveling time in the region by 35 to 40 minutes. Construction works for the 7 km section connecting La Manuela and Tres Puertas are also finished. This section involves development of uneven intersections, 5 bridges of 100 meters, 15 smaller bridges.
