The Government of Indonesia is expecting to begin operations for Jakarta to Bandung high-speed railway in November 2022. The construction work for the project is 80% complete and on schedule.
The project is undertaken by PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China consortium, which comprises China Railway Group, China Railway Signal and Communication Co, China Railway Rolling Stock Corp, and Power Construction Corporation of China. The railway will provide services for the upcoming G20 summit in November 2022. The initial public operations will start from June 2023.
Phase-1 of the high-speed rail involves the development of a 142.3 km long high-speed railway with 4 stations connecting Jakarta to Bandung in West Java. The new line will reduce the journey time between Jakarta and Bandung to 36-44 minutes, compared with three hours on the existing line.
