University of Milan in Italy has received only one bid in the tender for its new multimillion campus development PPP project to be located in Milano Innovation District (MIND), an area of the former Expo Milano2015 site.
A consortium of companies Lendlease Infrastructure, Coopservice, CMB Carpi and Colombo Costruzioni has submitted their proposal for the design, construction and management of the new campus.
The tender was launched in July 2019 and the deadline to submit the bids was December 20, 2019. The bid was open in January, and the commission was created for the technical and economic evaluation of the offer.
The total estimated value of the project is EUR 826 million (US$ 907.84 million), which includes the planning, construction of the Campus and its management for the entire duration of the 31 years of the concession (1 year for the drafting and approval of the executive design, 3 years for the execution of the works and 27 years for the management of the services).
The financial plan provides for the sharing of charges between the University, the state, and the private partner. The authority is expecting works to be completed by Spring 2025.
The new university campus will be able to accommodate over 18,000 students, of which 700 will be foreigners. Apart from that the campus will accomodate 1,800 researchers and 500 technicians and administrators. The campus will cover the area of 2,500 sq. meters and will be located in Milano Innovation District (MIND). MIND is a science, knowledge and innovation district on the former 2015 World Expo site in Milan and will feature university campus, hospital, an international research center with new housing, student accommodation, business, and retail.
