Oman Logistics Company (OLCo) has announced it has launched a tender process to develop the integrated hub, Khazaen Logistics Hub, in South Al Batinah Governorate.
OLCo is looking for a partner to design, build, finance, operate and transfer of assets within a 10-square-kilometers land area for a 40-year term.
The deadline for submitting proposals is August, 31 2017.
The 95 sqkm Khazaen coming up at the intersection of the Barka-Nakhl Road and the Muscat-Batinah Expressway route is designed to position the Sultanate as a logistics gateway for the wider region.
According to sources, OLCo has already signed a number of contracts for constructing temperature-controlled warehouses, conventional covered structures and open-yard areas for the storage of goods as part of the Block One of the logistics hub that spreads over 3 sqkm. OLCo also intends to appoint an operator to run the nation’s first dry port at Khazaen, which is also part of Block One.
