Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has signed a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) with National Energy Centre (NEC) for the deployment of pilot smart city facilities at PDO's Ras Al Hamra residential and leisure community located in Muscat.
In the pilot project, NEC will be responsible to introduce smart measures such as smart water metering, street lighting, urban water management, smart energy metering, and irrigation for the inhabitants of the community. Implementation works for the project are scheduled to start in 2022.
This partnership will contribute to Oman's vision 2040 to achieve smart, sustainable and vibrant cities and countryside with a viable architecture. PDO's team for Ras Al Hamra aims to reduce water and energy consumption by implementing sustainable smart monitoring and management systems for utilities.
