Oman Rail is set to resume the tender of the 653-km Mineral Line project under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme.
The project involves a two-phase bulk resource heavy rail that ends at the Port of Duqm that can carry up to 30 million tonnes of minerals annually. The project will also carry 3 million tonnes of industrial goods, 15 million tonnes of general goods, and 1 million tonnes of oil field equipment.
The construction of the project is expected to conclude in four years after the tender award. The Oman Rail’s Mineral Line project was endorsed by the National Programme for Enhancing Economic Diversification (Tanfeedh) as one of the 120 initiatives that can boost the Sultanate of Oman’s economy in the short term.
