The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries in Oman has launched a request for expression of interest seeking private partners for the construction, management, operation and maintenance of Liwa fishery harbor located in North Al Batinah coast of Oman.
The harbor has a 1.5-kilometer-long breakwater arm, 100-meter long deck and floating berths. The concession involves the redevelopment of current infrastructure as well as the construction of commercial activities on a 45,000 sqm parcel located next to the harbor. The project aims to build facilities for fish-market, ice-making and refrigeration facilities, boat-building workshops, fish-processing and value-adding plants, fish waste processing and value-adding plants, among other commercial activities. It also includes the construction of Liwa riverfront, watersport and boat-racing activities and a 4-star resort.
The estimated investment value for the project is US$130 million. This project is the first one being procured under the new public-private partnership law (the PPP Law) introduced in Oman.
