The National Water Company (NWC) has commissioned a Spanish-Saudi consortium of Aqualia, Tawzea and HAACO to manage water and sanitation in the Saudi regions of Qassim, Hail, Al-Jouf and Northern Border in the north of Saudi Arabia.
The consortium has signed an agreement to award a management, operation and maintenance (MOM) contract for 7 years. The Northern Cluster covers four regions in the north of Saudi Arabia, with a population of over three million people. The Northern Cluster will optimize management and ensure the social, environmental and economic sustainability of the end-to-end water cycle in the vast Saudi northern region.
The NWC has conditionally divided Saudi Arabia into 6 clusters to improve the management of water supply and sanitation services. Aqualia has been awarded the South Cluster and North Cluster that will reach over 8 million people. Consortiums led by the french companies Suez, Saur and Veolia will manage the remaining 4 administrative units of Saudi Arabia.
