The Government of New South Wales in Australia through its Transport Ministry is in talks with Spanish company, Acciona, to settle the dispute that has stalled the construction of the AU$2.1 billion (US$1.52 billion) Sydney light rail PPP project.
Acciona is in a court battle with NSW Government claiming that the latter has misrepresented the amount of work required to replace utility lines for the light rail, which will connect eastern suburbs to the Central Business District.
The Spanish company may receive more than AUD600 million (US$433.57 million) compensation from the Government, however, the Transport Ministry has asserted that both parties are still in negotiations and no settlement has been reached yet.
