Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens Vegvesen) has received bids from four companies for Rv 555 Sotrasambandet project. A new Sotra connection will open up bottlenecks and constitute a major improvement for road users, businesses and emergency response services in the municipalities of Nye Øygarden and Bergen.

Following are the companies interested in the project:

  • VINCI Concessions SAS
  • FCC Concesiones de Infraestructuras S.L.U
  • China Communications Construction Company Ltd.
  • ITINERA SPA

The new road system will have a new four-lane motorway, separate lanes for public transport, and pedestrian and cycle paths. The project includes 22 bridges, one suspension bridge, 23 portals and four twin-tube tunnels. When all this is combined in one major contract, the Sotra Connection contract becomes the largest construction contract in Norway so far.
