The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) is in talks with the preferred bidder China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC) for the Ibadan Inland container depot project.

The authority is planning to complete the contract signature in the coming month. The port will have a capacity of 80,000 TEU and will help ease the congestion and gridlocks in Apapa ports. The project is set to be implemented on Design, Build, Finance, Operate, Maintain, and Transfer (DBFOMT) model under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.

The US$ 111 million project is set to begin construction after the contract signature. The dry port will provide a competitive cargo sorting center, bulk breaking as well as cargo-tracking and truck management services.
