The Government of Nigeria is planning concessions for four airports, after which private operators will handle these airports for a period of 20-30 years. Selected airports are located in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Kano and are currently operating at a sub-optimal level.
The concession will cover only non-aeronautical assets of the airports located in passenger and cargo terminals. This includes assets from the front door of the airport to the embarking and disembarking point, as well as from an aircraft to the exit doors. The areas are commonly known as the passenger terminal and can include retail spaces, seating areas, lounge areas, baggage collection, check-in counters and administrative offices.
