Ministries of Public Works and Health (MOP) has announced that the new La Serena Hospital will begin construction in September which will benefit 723,000 people from the communes of La Serena, La Higuera, Vicuña and Paihuano in the Coquimbo Region, Chile.
The new hospital will have the capacity for 668 beds, distributed among 146 critical patients, 332 medical-surgical beds, 90 gynecobstetric beds, 48 pediatric beds, 18 neonatological beds and 34 for adult psychiatry. To this will be added 15 pavilions, 85 medical, dental and non-medical consultation boxes, 6 comprehensive childbirth care rooms and an emergency service. The La Serena Hospital, within its Architectural Medical Program, considers facilities and medical equipment to develop a high-resolution Oncology center.
The highly complex medical facility will have 125,284 m2 and will have an estimated construction period of about 4 years, so the works will be completed in the second half of 2028.
