The New York State Thruway Authority has extended the deadline for bidders to submit proposals to design, build, finance, operate and maintain food service operations at the 27 service stations located along the 570-mile (917km) thruway, a system of limited-access highways connecting New York City and Buffalo, as well as bordering states Connecticut, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.
The RFP was published in October 2018 inviting proposal submission until 11 January 2019. This is the second deadline extension, with respones allowed until 11 April 2019.
The Thruway's 27 service areas offer a variety of restaurants and other services, including gasoline (petrol) stations, automated Teller Machines (ATMs), tourist information centers and kiosks, gift shops, Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi), travel safety information, and up-to-date weather and traffic conditions. The areas are strategically located about every 30 to 40 miles (48 to 64km) along the Thruway.
