The Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio) has launched a new concession notice for the Jericoacoara National Park in Ceará, Brazil.
The estimated investment for this project encompasses approximately BRL116 million (US$23 million) in park infrastructure, in addition to an estimated BRL990 million (US$203 million) allocated for operations and management over the duration of the contract. This concession initiative represents one of the Institute's strategies to enhance the quality of services offered to park visitors. The newly issued notice extends the project's positive impacts, which will be shared with the network of conservation units in the Jericoacoara region.
The selected concessionaire will assume responsibility for various activities, including supporting visitor services, maintaining and modernizing tourist facilities, and undertaking conservation and environmental protection measures. The notice also outlines a series of upfront investments, encompassing enhancements to operational structures, recreational and transportation infrastructure, as well as amenities within various park areas to enhance the visitor experience. Furthermore, it stipulates investments in environmental research and the allocation of concession resources to surrounding municipalities, namely Camocim, Cruz, and Jijoca de Jericoacoara.
