New concession law, which was signed in October 2019 in Ukraine, will come into power on February 1, 2020. The law had been in development since 2016 with the help and participation of EBRD, European Business Association, and various ministries. The law matches modern international concession practices.
At the same time, the parliament has canceled the old law with the list of state properties that cannot be privatized, what became the beginning of the process of privatization of state properties.
Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine predicts that privatization and concessions will become a trend of the next year. The infrastructure minister has announced that he plans to give a green light for concession projects in all sectors - roads, ports, airports and railway.
