The Ministry of Public Works has reported that the new concession for the El Loa Airport has begun to take effect in Calama, Chile.
The Sacyr-Agunsa consortium has been awarded a contract aimed at enhancing the capacity and efficiency of its commercial and cargo airport infrastructure. Planned improvements involve expanding the passenger terminal from 9,763 m2 to 30,378 m2, adding five commercial aircraft parking spaces with 7 boarding bridges and four remote positions, and doubling the commercial aircraft apron size from 22,000 m2 to 42,000 m2. Additionally, the number of vehicle parking spaces will increase from 512 to 995. The new passenger terminal will feature 10 automatic check-in kiosks, 28 counters, 5 AVSEC (airport security) posts, 7 emigration checkpoints, 4 PDI immigration checkpoints, and a checkpoint for SAG and Customs. The construction stages follow a detailed timeline, with the project focusing on these crucial enhancements to airport facilities.
