The National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) has received 51 km that is part of the fourth generation Third Lane Bogotá - Girardot project.

The project covers Functional Unit 1, spanning from the Mariano Ospina Pérez Bridge to the entrance of the Sumapaz tunnel. Activities conducted here include pavement rehabilitation and maintenance, slope stabilization, construction of the new Tolemaida bridge, and two new roundabouts—one in Ricaurte and the other in Melgar. The Bogotá-Girardot Third Lane project, executed across Cundinamarca and Tolima, consists of eight Functional Units and an additional Functional Unit for corridor operation and maintenance. ANI has assumed responsibility for Functional Units UF8, UF4, and UF1.

Currently, the project is 49.53% complete with a total investment of US$2.92 billion. Key aspects of the Bogotá-Girardot Third Lane IP project include rehabilitating the existing dual carriageway over approximately 144.8 km, adding a third lane from the Chinauta tollbooth to Soacha on both carriageways and extending a third lane from the Boquerón section to the Chinauta toll on the Girardot – Bogotá direction. Additionally, it involves refurbishing the Guillermo León Valencia tunnel, adapting pedestrian bridges along the corridor, constructing roundabouts, and expanding or building vehicular bridges.
