The National Infrastructure Agency (ANI), through Findeter, has allocated US$165 billion to increase the operational capacity of the Bogotá - Belencito railway corridor in the section between Tuta and Belencito (Boyacá).
The national government will carry out different modernization actions in the Bogotá-Belencito corridor, such as the reinforcement of the superstructure that includes the change of rails and sleepers, which allows for improving the operational capacity of the track and the speed of railway vehicles in the area. The interventions between Tuta and Belencito are part of a recently awarded contract by Findeter to Consorcio Ferreobelen C&E, with funding from ANI, totaling an investment of US$165 million. These rehabilitation efforts complement ongoing public works worth US$136 billion, which have helped the Government of Change increase railway cargo transport by 33.7% during the first half of 2024, with 41,035 tons already moved.
In the first two years, the ANI has allocated more than US$464 billion, for 5 signed contracts that guarantee the operation of the railway corridors while the long-term structuring of PPP projects is carried out. To date, the ANI efficiently operates three railway corridors with 1,024 km, guaranteeing optimal commercial and logistical performance. The Bogotá-Belencito railway corridor runs through the municipalities of Facatativá, Madrid, Mosquera, Chia, Cajica, Zipaquira, Tocancipa, Gachancipa, Sesquile, Suesca, Choconta, Villapinzon, Ventaquemada, Tunja, Oicata, Tuta, Paipa, Duitama and Sogamoso, in the departments of Cundinamarca and Boyaca.
