Namibia Water Corporation has awarded a contract to China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation for the Construction of the Rundu Water Treatment Plant Extension & Associated Works in Namibia.
The contract entails the complete replacement of the existing abstraction systems and purification plants to meet the 2037 water demand of 36 ML/D. It therefore entails the following major components:
- Component 1: The Raw Water Abstraction and Conveyance System.
- Component 2: The New Rundu Water Treatment Plant.
- Component 3: The Rundu Treatment Plant Product Water Conveyance System.
- Component 4: Upgrade of Existing Water Supply Scheme.
- Component 5: Decommissioning of Redundant Infrastructure
- Other: The construction works include stormwater systems and relocation of the sewer main at the water treatment site.
