Telecom Namibia and Paratus Telecom have announced a significant Public-Private Partnership (PPP) to fund the Namibian link to Google’s new undersea cable between South Africa and Portugal. The new cable 'Equiano', is expected to be completed during 2022 with the Namibian landing station scheduled for this year. Once operational, it will provide Namibian networks and their customers greater capacity, enabling more product options to support economic growth and support a competitive telecommunications sector.

Equiano cable project is expected to cost US$ 47 billion.
