The National Infrastructure Agency has Compensated the Municipality of Rionegro with COP 46.8 billion (US$ 11.8 billion) for the José María Córdova International Airport Compensation in Antioquia, Colombia.
This consideration represents 20% of the total commercial revenue generated by the concession from January 1, 2022, to March 2024, reflecting the international airport's share of the total passenger traffic. José María Córdova International Airport has significantly contributed to the region's economic development and competitiveness, creating jobs and boosting the demand for goods and services linked to aviation, passenger transport, cargo, and tourism.
In 2023, the airport served over 12 million passengers, ranking as the second busiest air terminal in Colombia. Concessioned by the ANI in 2009, its development projects were completed in 2020, and its concession period will end in 2032. The airport operates 7 domestic and 5 international routes, supporting an airport community of 12,384 people. In 2022, COP 3.9 billion (US$ 1 million) was invested in maintenance activities.
