Mumbai launches tender for offshore berth on PPP mode

Mumbai Port Trust has launched a Request For Qualification in order to shortlist competent applicants for the designing, engineering, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of an offshore multipurpose cargo berth at Mumbai Port.

A Pre-Application Conference and Site Inspection will be held on 17th July 2013. The deadline for submissions of qualification documents is 2 August 2013.

The project:

The object of the project is to create a facility to handle bigger ships carrying multipurpose cargo. Brief particulars of the project are as follows:

  1. The berth with a length of 550 m and a width of 100 m with an alongside depth of -13.5 MCD to cater for 60,000 DWT ships.
  2. The approach trestle with a length of 1405 m and a width of 16 m.
  3. Capital Dredging in maneuvering area.
  4. Administrative and other buildings and Workshops.
  5. Requisite Cargo Handling Equipments like Wharf cranes, Mobile Harbor Cranes, Forklifts, etc.
  6. Utilities including IT systems, environmental safeguards, firefighting facilities etc.
  7. Indicative Capital Cost of the Project: Rs. 696 Cr. (US$116 million)
  8. Estimated Capacity: 4.5 MTPA
