Airbus has failed to submit the proposal (till March 06, 2020), along with Thai Airways International (THAI) for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) of U-Tapao Airport in Rayong project. The bidding process is postponed to April 2020 as both companies are acutely affected by the coronavirus. The national carrier is expected to wait till April 2020 for proposals from Airbus.
Airbus and THAI signed a joint investment agreement in June 2019. Both companies have been discussing the details of THB 11 billion (US$ 0.3 billion) investment in the project.
If airbus fails to submit the investment plan by April 20, 2020, THAI is scheduled to open general bidding for potential investors.
