The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has signed a contract with Maldives Transport and Contracting Company PLC (MTCC) for the development and expansion of Maafaru International Airport in Noonu, Maldives.
Under the agreement, MTCC will be responsible for widening of the strip by extending the runway by an additional 650 m, upgrading the pavement of the existing runway, widening the taxiway and upgrading the power system and AGL.
The total estimated cost of the project is US$52.18 million. US$27.18 million will be funded by the Abu Dhabi Fund and the remaining US$25 million will be spent from the State Budget.
