Ministry of Water and Irrigation has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Meridiam Suez to advance negotiations for Jordan’s National Water Carrier Project.

The MoU outlines steps to conclude project discussions, define a clear implementation timeline, and ensure timely water delivery. The desalination project will process Red Sea water, transporting it from Aqaba to Amman, supplying 300 million cubic meters of drinking water annually across Jordan. Covering approximately 400 km, the project will be developed through a public-private partnership using the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model.
