Morocco's National Ports Agency (ANP) has launched an international tender for a 30-year concession to develop, equip, operate, and maintain a new shipyard in the Port of Casablanca. This US$300 million project aims to establish Africa's largest shipyard, spanning 52 acres (approximately 21 hectares).

Key Features of the Proposed Shipyard:

  • A 244-meter by 40-meter dry dock

  • A 150-meter by 28-meter lifting platform with a 9,000-tonne capacity

  • A 62-meter by 13-meter basin equipped with a 450-ton gantry crane

  • 820 linear meters of outfitting quays

  • 21 hectares of open terrain designated for operational activities

The facility is designed to service commercial, military, and fishing vessels, enabling Morocco to conduct maintenance and repairs on its naval fleet domestically. This strategic move is expected to reduce reliance on foreign shipyards and conserve foreign currency reserves, especially as the country plans to loosen its currency peg in 2026.

Tender Participation Criteria:

  • Bidders must demonstrate at least ten years of experience operating comparable shipyards.

  • Proposals can be submitted independently or as part of a consortium led by an experienced operator.
