The Port Authority of Thailand has released a revised list of companies that have purchased bid documents for the THB155.834 billion (US$4.77 billion) Laem Chabang Phase 3 expansion project in Chonburi. The number of interested parties has increased to 34.
The selected private partner will construct four new container berths at the port, located in the Thung Sukhla subdistrict of the province, increasing throughput to seven million containers per year. The private partner will also construct a roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) terminal with a throughput of 1 million vessels per year.
Companies interested in the project include Japanese conglomerates Itochu Corporation, Mitsui & Co. and Sumitomo Corporation; major Chinese infrastructure developers China Railway Construction Corporation and China Harbor Engineering Company; and leading international port operators PSA and APM Terminals BV.
