MOP announced opening of new works at Arica's Chacalluta Airport

The Ministry of Public Works (MOP) has announced the opening of new works at Arica's Chacalluta Airport.

The project involves an investment of US$ 80 million and will double the surface area of ​​the facility, add a modern control tower, new facilities for the DGAC and 5 new boarding gates. The airport will increase from 5,352 square meters to 12,184, with a new control tower, 5 new boarding bridges and 510 seats in the boarding lounges, which will benefit more than 230,000 people. The new works will mean:

  • three new boarding gates (a total of five);
  • three new counters for airlines (a total of 16);
  • 126 new parking spaces (a total of 486); and
  • three new aircraft platforms (a total of seven).

The works also include new DGAC facilities, including a control tower, SSEI headquarters, electrical substation, air traffic information office (ARO), and a new cargo terminal building.
