The Department of Transportation (DOTr) of the Philippines has awarded a JPY140 billion (US$1.21 billion) contract to Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) to deliver the integrated railway systems and trackwork for the Metro Manila Subway.
MC is responsible for designing, manufacturing, installing and delivering all the systems for the Philippines’ first subway line between the northern city of Valenzuela and the southern city of Parañaque. The company will cover a stretch of the subway extending from East Valenzuela Station to Terminal 3 Station, a total of 27 km line with 15 stations, and to Bicutan Station.
The project is financed through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) by an ODA loan and is expected to be completed in 2028.
