Mississauga City Council in Ontario, Canada has selected the top six priority transit projects for the City of Mississauga, which will ease congestion and guarantee access to improved local and regionally connected public transit for residents, visitors and commuters. The six projects listed as a priority are as following :
- Lakeshore Bus Rapid Transit (BRT)- will connect the communities of Lakeview, Port Credit, and Clarkson over the next 25 years. The authority is conducting environmental assessments studies for a 2-km stretch of center-running bus rapid transit lanes on Lakeshore Road between Etobicoke Creek and East Avenue.
- Dundas Bus Rapid Transit (BRT)- will run for 48 kilometers along Dundas Street from Highway 6 in Hamilton to the Kipling Transit Hub in Toronto.
- Downtown Mississauga Terminal and Transitway Connection- connects the existing Mississauga Transitway along Rathburn Road/Centre View Drive through the City’s downtown core, with a terminal that serves both MiWay and GO Transit.
- Extension of the Eglinton Crosstown West (ECWE) Light Rail Transit (LRT)- will extend the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit corridor from Mount Dennis Station in Toronto to the Renforth Transitway Station in Mississauga, with a connection to Toronto Pearson Airport and a station in the Airport Corporate Centre.
- Milton GO Rail corridor- is a key local and regional rapid transit corridor that, with increased two-way all-day service, will meet the demand for inter-regional transit service and support economic development.
- Hurontario LRT Downtown LRT Loop- will circle around the downtown core of Hurontario with infill development on Oxford lands located on the north side of Rathburn Road and Square One Shopping Centre.
