The government of Yucatan has launched a plan to build a Ie-Tram network covering Merida's beltway and connections to Kanasín and Umán municipalities in Mexico.
The network will have more than 100 km of electric bus corridor on three routes running from Kanasín to Centro, Umán to Centro and Centro to Facultad de Ingeniería UADY.
The estimated investment value for the project is MXN2.8 billion (US$138.02 million), out of which 60% of financing will be provided by the state government, 23% by the federal government, and 16% by the private sector. The project will utilize the unused railway. The Tram network is expected to be operational by Q4 2023 with at least 30 electric units providing services on the corridor.
