Empresa Metro de Bogotá (EMB) company in Colombia has opened the tender and procurement process for the development, design, financing, construction, operation, and maintenance of the COP 12 billion (USD 3.45 billion) Bogotá Metro Line 1 project.
The six prequalified consortia consist of Metro de Bogotá, Apca Metro Capital, Consorcio Sunrise, Apca TransMimetro, Consorcio Línea 1 y Unión Metro Capital has received the project technical specifications for civil works, buildings, trains, the workshops, the control center, the communications networks, and all the details. In addition, 28 access buildings are required, 16 metro stations, 140 hectares of new public pedestrian space, a bike path that will be deployed along 13 kilometers below the viaduct, and a cycle lane on the Caracas Avenue section are included.
The six consortia must present their respective economic proposals by the end of September. Once the documentation has been received, the Bogotá Metro Company (EMB) and the evaluation group will review and select as the winner the one that presents the best initiative and the most beneficial for the city in economic terms. The project is expected to be operational by 2025.
