Megawide Construction Corp. with Maplecrest Group Inc. has secured the PHP 1.87-billion (US$ 31 million) contract to build Cavite’s first bus rapid transit (BRT) in the Philippines.
The project is structured in two phases, the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system and a point-to-point (P2P) service with the first phase including 15 km of BRT alignment and 26.5 km for the P2P segment. The BRT will cover the areas of Kawit, Imus, General Trias, Tanza, and Trece Martires, while the P2P will connect to Metro Manila through the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange, also managed by Megawide.
In the first phase, Megawide will construct two terminals and 27 stations, with operations expected to commence by 2026. The second phase will include 20 additional stations, extending the alignment to the New Cavite Provincial Capitol. Each BRT station will be designed to accommodate at least one bus at a time, while the terminals will feature two bays and four transport lanes to accommodate feeder lines.
